Haikou to spend 1.24 billion yuan on tourism construction

Haikou's finance bureau will spend 1.24 billion yuan (US$182 million) on the construction of Hainan International Tourism Island to make Haikou into an elite city that is livable, suitable for working and learning and the best destination.

The budget is:

• 62.8 million yuan for building International Tourism Island;

• 417.4 million yuan for developing the economy;

• 127.05 million yuan for developing agriculture;

• 38 million yuan for technological innovation;

• 68.95 million yuan for environmental conservation;

• 20.5 million yuan for vocational education scholarships and grants; and

• 509,7 million yuan for education, medical health and social security.
