Tourism officials from around the world have gathered in southern China's Hainan Province to map out the industry's recovery from the global financial crisis.

The 2010 Bo'ao International Tourism Forum opened on Saturday in the resort city of Sanya. The two-day forum will focus on promoting tourism around the world through culture, sports and the media.

More than 2-thousand participants are attending the forum, including 60 ministerial-level officials and executives of major tourism associations.

The United Nations World Tourism Organization said global tourism experienced its most difficult year in 2009, with the global tourism revenue slumping 4 percent.

China is expected to contribute significantly to a 2 to 3 percent growth to global tourism revenue this year.
