Golf tourism in China should be developed under the guidance of China's laws and policies to achieve good results, officials said Thursday at a seminar of 2010 Boao International Tourism Forum.

The forum, which gathered more than 500 industry players and experts, will discuss Hainan's position in its golf tourism development, the development of golf in the course of urbanization, and the development and prospects of the global golf industry.

Addressing an audience of more than 500 entrepreneurs and experts on golf tourism in a conference hall of Mission Hills Hainan, Du Jiang, deputy head of the National Tourism Administration said that the development of golf industry should conform to the reality in China.

"Compared with some developed countries, China's golf tourism industry is still in the beginning stage, which has required the standardization of the development. The development of golf industry should be developed under the guidance of laws and policies in China."

The Golf and Tourism Forum, part of the 2010 Bo'ao International Tourism Forum, kicked off Tuesday morning in Haikou, Hainan Province.
