South China's Hainan Province saw its gross domestic product rises 11.7% year on year to 164.66 billion yuan in 2009, said Governor Luo Baoming at a meeting on January 26, 2010.

Luo said that the GDP growth was mainly contributed by investment and consumption.

The province's fixed-asset investment surged 41.1% year on year to 100.25 billion yuan last year, while its retail sales increased 19.2% to 53.45 billion yuan.

The province saw fiscal revenue grow 23% from a year earlier to 17.82 billion yuan and fiscal expenditure increase by 12.65 billion to 48.45 billion yuan.

The value of exports and imports in the province fell 14.9% year on year to 8.96 billion U.S. dollars in 2009.
