Tan Li, appointed vice-governor of Hainan Province 

On January 21, the 13th session of the 4th NPC standing committee of Hainan Province concluded and Tan Li was appointed as the vice-governor.

The central government announced on Jan. 4 a plan to build the island into a top international tourist destination by 2020. "I feel honored that I can be involved in this plan and make my own contribution." Tan said after the appointment. "For me, it is not only a promotion but an imperative. I will endeavor to assume overall responsibility of accelerating Hainan development."

Tan Li, a native of Chongqing Municipality, was born in October 1955. He began working in February, 1972 and joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in June 1987.

Feb.1972-Aug.1973: He worked at Taoping community, Changning County, Sichuan Province.

Aug.1973-July 1975: He studied at a teacher training school in Gao County, Sichuan Province

July 1975-Sept. 1979: He held various government positions in Changning County.

Sept. 1979-July 1983: He studied at Chongqing Normal University majoring in politics and history.

July 1983-June 1985: He worked for the Education Bureau in Yibin Region, Sichuan Province.

June 1985-Sept.1995: He served as the teacher, vice-director and director of the department of administration management in Party College of Sichuan Province Committee.

Sept.1995-Aug.1997: He held various government positions in Pi County, Sichuan Province.

Aug.1997-June 1998: He was appointed as the mayor assistant of Chengdu City, Sichuan Province

June 1998-March 2001: He was appointed as the head of Publicity Department of Chengdu City.

March 2001-Dec.2004: He was appointed as the municipal party secretary of Guang’an City, Sichuan Province.

Dec.2004-March 2009: He was appointed as the municipal party secretary of Mianyang City, Sichuan Province.

March 2009-Jan.2010: He was Hainan Provincial party committee member and the head of Publicity Department of Hainan Province.

Jan. 2010---: He was appointed vice-governor of Hainan Province.
