The Folk Culture Village of Hainan is located only eight kilometers from Wuzhishan City (former Tongza City). As the name suggests, the city is situated at the southern foot of the Five-Finger Mountain. It is also known as the Jadeite City famous for its summer resorts.

Invested in by Tongza International Recreation Center and covering an area of 40 hectares, the village is a large complex of cultural landscapes consisting of various estates, architecture, folk customs, and folk arts of various ethnic groups. It has been regarded as a open-air museum that displays traditional folk culture of ethnic groups.

Inside the village are more than 20 different kinds of estates built on the basis of their original landscapes. There are bamboo buildings, boat-shaped houses, and log houses, triple-houses with a court buildings in front, earthen houses, Mongolian yurts and quadrangles. Visitors can also see other attractions such as a drum-shaped building, a wind and rain bridge, three pagodas, a calendar column, and the Great Wall. All of them are beside different villages, delicately arranged and in perfect harmony with the natural settings.

Minority actors and actresses from different parts of the country offer such dances as the Bamboo Dance, the Rattle Stick Dance, the Peacock Dance, Munao Dance, Pot Dance, and other forms of singing and dancing. Tourist can also enjoy the performances played with such musical instruments as the ding dong, mang drum, elephant's leg drum, reed-pipe wind instrument, various plucked stringed instruments, and the Sanxian, a three- stringed plucked instrument from the Han nationality.

Besides, there are live and grand folk festival celebrations of minority nationalities, among which are the Water-Splashing Festival, Sanyuesan, March the 3rd of the Chinese Lunar Calendar of the Li and Miao nationalities, the Torch Festival, and many more. Tourists can enjoy various kinds of ritual performances which are simple and unsophisticated. Each of these amusements has its own features, pleasing to both eyes and minds.

The village also offers different foods of minority nationalities with unique flavor. These include Shanlan wine, Bamboo Rice, Three Brewed Tea, Salted Fish, and Fried Milk. As the largest minority nationalities' customs sightseeing area in Hainan, the village also owns a four-star hotel and other facilities designed for holidays and recreation.
