Features:
Surrounded by stunning mountains and the South China Sea, Yalong Bay Golf Club sits right across the road from the Yalong Bay Golf Resort of Hainan Island at almost the southernmost tip of all China. It is invested in by China Everbright Group Ltd.
Shaped like a “dragon’s claw” in Chinese descriptions, this links-style tournament-quality course offers plenty of challenges, from lakes to bunkers, making maximum use of the natural landscape. There are quite a few doglegs in the knuckles of the claw. The rolling fairways run loose in the open fronting the beach.
With 98 bunkers and a snaking river that dissects the golf course and plays a major part at Yalong Bay Golf Club, the course is a true test for any standard of golfer. The current course record is made by Chapchai Nirat from Thailand who shot a 61 on the first day of the TCL Classic in 2007.
This golf course was awarded in the top ten for Best Golf Courses in China in 2007. It was also appointed as the official venue of the APGA Sanya Open from 2003 to 2007.
How to get there:
Thirty minutes drive from downtown Sanya, forty minutes drive from Sanya Phoenix International Airport, twenty minutes drive from Dadonghai Bay, forty-five minutes drive from Sanya Bay and only five minutes walking distances from most resorts in Yalong Bay including Sheraton, Marriott, Hilton & Ritz-Carlton, Crowne Plaza, Horizon, Holiday Inn and Gloria.
