History of Boao International Tourism Forum
Boao International Tourism Forum (BITF) was proposed during Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao's inspection tour to Hainan in April, 2009. During the visit, Wen stressed the importance of tourism development. Wen pointed out that Hainan should use the brand influence of Boao Forum for Asia to accelerate the construction of the province's international Tourism Island and help Hainan achieve fast and sound economic development.
BITF will make great efforts to grow into a high-end platform for elites from domestic and foreign government organizations, enterprises, media and the sectors of culture, sport and art. The forum will discuss issues of common interest and provide intellectual support for world and especially China's tourism industry.
Boao International Tourism Forum (BITF) is a high-level, international platform for tourism elites around the world. It is an annual event held in the establishment venue of Boao Forum for Asia. Themed with "Reform of the Tourism Culture Industry in the Post-Financial-Crisis Era", BITF 2010 aims to summarize the experiences gained in combating the financial crisis and discuss a win-win mechanism for the international tourism industry.
