Fengjia Bay [www.haihainan.com]

Fengjia Bay is 26 km from downtown Wenchang and 40 km from downtown Qionghai. It is a natural bay with a beach stretching as long as 8 km. The beach is so white that it is called “The Silver Beach of the South China Sea.” Within 200 m of the beach, the sea water is less than 2 m deep and the bottom can be clearly seen.

The bay is surrounded by bushy coconut trees and oddly-shaped stones. Some are as big as a house, while others are as small as a fist. A scene from the Chinese TV series “Journey to the West” depicting the birth of the Monkey King from a stone was shot here.

To the west of the bay, there is Sangengzhi, a hill that is 50 m high. The most spectacular views of the South China Sea sunrise and coconut forest sunset can be seen from the top of the hill.
