Features:

Hainan Wenchang Golf Club is located in the historical city of Wenchang, lying in the northeast of Hainan Province, which is commonly known as the “Home of Oversea Chinese” and “Home of Coconut”.

The course features 14 man-made lakes, 77 large sand bunkers, manicured undulating fairways and an island green. Despite the many man-made additions, the front nine was built in natural surroundings while the back nine has more artificial obstacles, partly for aesthetic reasons but also to add an additional challenge to players. Teeing off requires accuracy rather than distance. Big long bunkers along the fairway and guarding the green encourage that tricky chip shot to the pin.

The par-5, 527-yard 3rd hole requires a drive over a huge lake only to find a fairway of continuous undulations with many deep bunkers adding extra dangers. The green is protected on the right side by tall trees and at the back with another small lake -- not at all an easy hole. The par-4 506-yard dogleg-left 16th hole is an interesting one not only because it offers a beautiful view at sunset, it also because it is not an easy one to get even a par. Water on the left stretches from the tee to about the 210-yard mark, after which a wide bunker yawns up to the 250-yard mark. The key to this hole depends very much on the tee-shot which must not only be powerful but accurate so as to avoid another lake nearer to the green on the right side.

How to get there:

Thirty-five minutes drive from Haikou Meilan Airport, and fifty minutes drive from downtown Haikou
